Rice's Lucky Clover Honey
For the Rice clan, entrepreneurship is a family affair that dates back to 1924. The legacy began with L.R. Rice, who started Rice’s Lucky Clover Honey out of his garage, selling honey he had produced door-to-door in Greeley, Colorado. Today, Rice’s Lucky Clover Honey is a fifth-generation, woman-owned, and family-operated business. Owner, Ronna Rice explained, “L.R. Rice set the standards of developing really good relationships with the beekeepers and with the stores to have a brand that was never going to change.” Producing the same quality honey for over 90 years, Rice’s Lucky Clover Honey is available in major retail stores around the nation and the world.
Rice’s Lucky Clover Honey needed financing to help keep up with increasing honey demands. Using the Small Business Administration 504 loan program, Jeremy Ehardt from First National Bank of Omaha and Colorado Lending Source helped the Rices purchase a 33,000 square foot facility, equipment for packaging, and an additional assembly line.
