Colorado Lending Source | Aug. 20, 2015

By 2005 Colorado Lending Source had officially become Colorado’s top certified development company, thanks to the organization’s newly expanded territory. For many years, Western Slope small businesses and lenders requested Colorado Lending Source’s assistance, and for the first time, the organization was able to accommodate.

At least one of every 10 loan approvals was for a project west of the Continental Divide, and the demand was growing. To keep up, Executive Director, Mike O’Donnell decided the organization needed to permanently plant some roots on the Western Slope, and in 2005, Colorado Lending Source opened its second location in Glenwood Springs.

That year, 15 Western Slope loans funded, one being right down the road from Colorado Lending Source’s new office. Timberline Tours was established in 1971 and by 2005 had grown to one of the largest and most experienced outfitters in Colorado. The company provides guided whitewater adventures on five different rivers, ranging from Class II to Class V in difficulty. They also offer backcountry jeep tours in the wilderness surrounding Vail.

Originally operating out of Minturn, it was determined that a new location would allow Timberline Tours to increase trips (and revenues). The perfect spot was picked right on the Eagle River, in Eagle, and after securing a SBA 504 loan from Colorado Lending Source, construction on the new facility was underway. Ten years later, Timberline Tours still operates out of the financed commercial building, and has built an additional three boathouses along their whitewater rafting courses.
