Stephanie Martin
Stephanie Martin, Marketing Officer
Stephanie is a 2007 addition to the Colorado Lending Source team. A native of Nebraska, Stephanie holds a BA from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, with dual majors in Communication Studies (Public Relations / Marketing / Advertising) and Football, where she ‘red-shirted’ as a wide receiver in 2004.
Prior to joining CLS, Stephanie held positions and internships that allowed her to assist with the growth in sales of multiple companies. A noted overachiever (see Guinness Book of World Records, 2008 edition, page 4876), Stephanie has many red outfits and an unusual passion for collecting chess sets of all shapes and sizes, from the plastic “Simpsons”, "Batman" and “Harry Potter” models, all the way through to rare antique sets valued by Sotherbys at more than $19,999.99. This passion for chess set collecting, threw Stephanie into contact with many influential Nebraskans, including many of those living representatives of the all-time list of 700 most influential Nebraskans. Probably at the top of this list, is business guru Warren Buffett who, of course, also wrote and performed that soulful dirge, “Margaritaville” which Stephanie also whistles incessantly throughout the day.
In addition to Xtreme chess, football and introducing the game of basketball to the citizens of Nebraska, Stephanie is a skillful skier, runner and collector of free standing stop signs. She brings one of these (stop signs) to work every day on the bus, along with a tastefully fluorescent, sequined, imitation plastic vest, and delights in randomly wandering out into the middle of the traffic on 17th Street from time to time, to see how much traffic she can back up.
Inspired at an early age by the stop-sign-less talent of Paula Abdul, Stephanie is also a competitive dancer with an extensive repertoire and background in the following genres of dance: Salsa (both advanced & LA style); Bachata (oooh!); Ballroom (professional); Wedding (hint, hint); Latin (Shakira copied Stephanie's style); Waltz (mostly Austrian); Foxtrot (no fur is involved); Swing (west coast only .. none of that east coast stuff); Rumba (but not in the jungle); Cha Cha Cha (while watching old episodes of "Lucy"); Merengue (and she likes to eat meringues while dancing the Merengue); Tango (of course); Line (red boots and red 8 gallon hat); Slow (on Saturdays); Two-step (with high heels); Hip Hop (midweek); Samba (in winter); Hustle (when she feels stressed); Bustle (when she doesn't); Ballet (she owns two pairs of red tights); Bolero (she has her own wide-brimmed hat); and, Paso Doble (with the cape to prove it). Stephanie aspires to Dancing with the Stars but, until then, hustles less talented dancers at amateur dance-offs at Colorado county fairs, dancing head-to-head and heel-to-toe against all comers for small purses, some of which contain money.
Her musical tastes include Warren Buffet (of course), Jimmy Buffet (his niece), Howlin Wolf, Etta James, Bo Didley, Muddy Waters, Fall Out Boy, Fergie, String Cheese Up My Nose, any dance band, and, the local boys, The Fray.
