Susan Malek

Susan Malek, Assistant Loan Officer

A 2008 addition to the CLS staff, Susan is a graduate of Babson College, MA, with a B.S.B.A. in business administration, marketing and snow-shoeing. For many years, Susan lived, worked and played on the Front Range, Several years ago, she relocated to the Western Slope where she now resides in Glenwood Springs, where the pace is quieter, the air is cleaner and she has to drive a snow mobile from her house down to her car, with her dog sitting on the rumble seat, on really wintry days.

Susan is based out of the CLS Glenwood Springs office, providing additional customer service, marketing and loan packaging support to small business owners and partner bank lenders in the greater western half of the wonderfully diverse and colorful state that is Colorado.

Like many of the CLS team, Susan has some interesting outside hobbies and personal pursuits which she pursues with a passion unlike anyone else since the fall of the Berlin Wall. Chief among these passions is her competitive snowmobiling side of life, and the Olympic aspirations she harbors as a fledgling member of the US team in the obscure sport of Dodabbing, which could best be described as a cross between roller derby and NASCA racing, where the objective is to push as many other competitive team members off the mountain and into a deep, dark crevice, using only your spike festooned snowmobile and small flame thrower. In her remaining spare time, Susan enjoys the less physical pursuits of ski-doing, sea-doing, pelican-spotting, baby seal saving, surf life saving, stamp collecting, hang gliding, mini golfing, wildcatting, dog grooming, building snow forts, calligraphy, collecting spoons and making unusually shaped melon balls (many of which she sells to celebrities from Aspen, other than Jack Nicholson, who don't mind cross country skiing to her door, where they will always find a welcome cup of Glühwein and an assorted collection of individually wrapped melon balls).

Susan’s favorite musical artists to listen to while snowmobiling include: Panther Attack; Michael Kamen; Eat My Dust You Commie Snow Snobs; Brittany Snow; Snow Patrol; Michael Buble'; Phoebe Snow; Hank Snow; Snow; Dean Martin; and, Kidz Bop Kids.
