China Carll

China Carll, Marketing & Legislative Affairs Officer

A 2004 addition to the CLS staff, China is a 2003 graduate of the University of Colorado, Boulder, with a BA in Communications and extensive coursework in the field of Journalism and the prairie dog fields out the back of her house.

Raised but not born in Colorado (a fact lamented in a recent state constitutional amendment), China worked as an intern with the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association in both Saint Petersburg, FL and Colorado Springs while completing her studies and filming the move “Gracie Field of Dreams”. China is an accomplished vocalist (she can be loud), pianist, softball player and American Idol contender, who enjoys snow boarding, surf boarding, dog boarding, house boarding, lumber boarding, card boarding, long term visitors, skin diving, scuba diving, high diving (10 meter platform), heli-boarding, Nordic skiing, sky diving (indoors), her hot pink Razr and matching hot pink Nano, and, cooking gourmet meals (her light-boiled Turkish gonads avec oeuffs is “to die for”).

China is also unusually passionate about Baboons, Marmosets, Tamarins, Macques, Capuchins (not the monks, but she likes monkeys in robes), Guenons and, especially (but not really understandably) spider and squirrel monkeys. As one of the few resident experts on the world of monkeys big and small, domiciled in Colorado, she is often consulted by NPR correspondents, Democratic presidential hopefuls and field zoologists from around the know world interested in better understanding these delicate fauna.

China’s musical interests strangely include Liberace, Deconstructing Dinner, the Girls Next Door, Monkey Man Nikko, Mutabaruka, The Fray (local boys) and the track “Phish Posh, I’m Having a Wash” sung by a much admired professional writer who goes by the sobriquet of Tommy Tadpole.
