Alaina Alexander

Alaina Alexander,
Program Coordinator

A 2007 part time addition to the CLS staff, Alaina is currently an MBA student at the University of Colorado, Denver, where she earnestly studies business practices, advanced finance, international affairs, economics, IT, marketing and nuclear physics. Alaina also holds a BA with a major in French from the same institution, which she earned earlier this decade. As a consequence, she has developed an occasionally overwhelming interest in croissants, and is wont to wear a striped black and white shirt with a dark colored beret on Mondays.

Prior to embarking on her MBA and joining the team at Colorado Lending Source, Alaina worked for a period of time as a central operations specialist for a bank in Louisville and also spent several years in Japan at the Berlitz American Language School where she taught American and sometimes English to Japanese students, while perfecting her own fluent Japanese language and sake seeking skills, both of which are useful around the CLS office. While absorbing and exploring the culture of Japan, Alaina became enamored with the films of master film maker Akira Kurosawa and can even lip synch the Seven Samurai (1954) without pausing for food or drink. She also became an expert on the genre of classic (= pre-Godzilla) anime films and their overwhelming impact on western society today. Sure, everyone has heard of Astro Boy (or Tetsuwan Atom, to give him his correct nome de plume) but the munificent work of Hayao Miyazaki and the way he breathes life into all the inhabitants of Princess Mononoke is an allegory for all mankind as we struggle with the resources of the planet and the juxtaposition of digital imaging within the frail framework of international business and confined spaces adjoining pigeon-infested balconies. (Editor's Note: Alaina is a woman of some passion, as any informed reader might note)

Alaina’s musical tastes tend to replicate the music of the far east. Her current favorites include: Chaga and Aske; Pizzicato Five; Cibo Matto; The Spice Girls; V6; Kinki Kids; Buffalo Daughter; Glay; Dragon Ash; Potato Ash; Bish Bash, I'm Having a Mash (remixed versions only); Koyanagi Yuki; and Shiina Ringo (not to be confused with the other Ringo who was 'oft seen around Abbey Road).
